Reading with a Racehorse

Visit the Juneau Public Library at 10:00 AM on the morning of Saturday, October 16th, to enjoy meeting a local horse harness racing legend, Derek Bromac N. Derek, who lives outside of Burnett Corners, will be bringing with him his owner, Amber Sawyer. Amber has written a picture book about Derek’s life titled “Love to Race”. The illustrator of the book, Tami Joe DeLisle, will also be joining us and will read the delightful book to the audience.

After the book reading, those in attendance can enjoy meeting Derek face-to-face, petting him, and maybe even feeding him a snack or two. Amber will be sharing with the group more information about Derek’s racing career and have on hand Derek’s harness, equipment, racing cart, and memorabilia!

Paperback copies of the book “Love to Race” will be available for purchase ($15) at the event and Amber & Tami will be available to autograph your book.

Children will also be able to decorate their own REAL horseshoe as a keepsake from their special morning.
